Tellico Reservoir - A Great Eastern Tennessee Getaway Almost Never Happened

It took an exemption by Congress and President Carter in 1979 that finally allowed for the completion of Tellico Dam, and a year later Tellico Lake was filled. Built by the Tennessee Valley Authority, Tellico Lake is part of a network of dams and reservoirs intended to protect the city of Chattanooga, Tennessee from flooding, and also to improve navigation on the Tennessee River. The canal that links Tellico Lake to Fort Loudon Lake allows barges to enter the Little Tennessee River without having to pass through a lock system increasing commercial traffic. The canal diverts water to Fort Loudon Lake to generate hydroelectric power.

Much of the shoreline of Tellico Lake is undeveloped, and there are many recreational facilities along the lake. There are also many communities being developed along Tellico Lake. The Ridges at Tellico Lake is one of those communities that feature Tellico Lake as an amenity for residents. Fishing, boating and water skiing are enjoyed on the 15,000 acres of water surface that comprise Tellico Lake. The Ridges is offering fractional homes sales of two gorgeous new model homes. Each featuring panoramic vistas of the Great Smoky Mountains, exquistely furnished and ready for occupancy, priced from just $149,000. In addition estate size home sites are available for building that vacation home getaway. For more information please visit www.theridgesattellicolake.com or call 1-877-Tenn-A-See (836-6273).
